Here at Absolute Roof Windows, we are often asked the same questions about Velux windows and roof windows and our company. Our FAQ page contains the most common ones.

We aim for our roof windows quotes to be transparent as possible. Any quote will include the supply, delivery, and fitting of all new roof windows, or complete roof window repair or replacement. We are always happy to take away any old roof windows and other products, so they can be recycled.

The vast majority of roof windows – around 95 per cent – can be fitted from the inside so there is no need for external scaffolding. All roof windows installations that are fitted from the inside can be completed quickly, in as little as four hours from start to finish.

The overall cost of a Velux replacement or new installation will depend on a number of factors, including the style of the window, size of the window, and the labour costs based on your location. We are always happy to provide a free and no-obligation quotation.

Yes, they are. Top-hung Velux roof windows are designed to be installed on a roof pitch from 15°-75° and centre-pivot  Velux roof windows are designed to be installed on a roof pitch from 15°-90°. This will depend on the flashing and roof materials. There are also options for other roofs and flat roofs available.

Yes, we will always aim to visit any site to take detailed measurements to ensure that the new fit of your window is seamless. For any replacements, we can visit to offer product advice and guidance around your new window before it is ordered.

When you are installing new roof windows, it is important to ensure that you are following any relevant building regulations or laws. In most cases, you will not need planning permission to install a roof window or skylight in your home under permitted development rules. This is subject to certain conditions being met and we are happy to offer guidance and advice.

The full Velux range meets and exceeds British Regulations, including those for thermal efficiency.

Velux offers a complete range of windows in different materials and styles. Glazing options include double glazing and triple glazing. You can also choose from options such as toughened glass, safety lamination, UV filters, and more.

Yes, we can supply all types of Velux blinds, shutters, and other accessories. Whether you would like blackout blinds for a roof window in a bedroom or other parts such as telescopic rods to open and close your windows, we can help.

Yes, we are a Velux certified company, which means that all our work undergoes strict assessment and we follow a Velux code of practice. We are also TrustMark and FENSA-accredited. This means we have the reach and maintain a level of workmanship and service, so you can feel confident that our work is meeting the highest standards.

Yes. Much of our work is Velux renewals and replacements. As well as replacing parts, we can provide a complete replacement service, offering windows that feature the latest technology, such as electronically-operated windows, that open at the touch of a button and will close when they sense rain.

Velux offers a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee on roof windows, including the window, flashing, and glass. There is also a three-year guarantee on blinds and electric windows. As members of TrustMark, our work comes guaranteed for six years.
